Prof. Natalya Sazanova's Reminiscences by Mr. Konstantin Gilevych

Some of the old timers devotees of Sripad Baba  narrated me the beautiful story of first time  meeting of Prof. Natalya Sazanova with Baba at Agra and her gradual transformation from a researcher on Vraja culture to a devotee of Radha-Krishna and a disciple of Pujya Baba and a collborator in his work. Under the Baba's guidance and inspiration, she also translated for the first time in Russian language Sursagar- a collection of poems of great poet-saint Surdas of medieval period.  Mr. Konstantin Gilevych   provided the following articles and video links with many rare beautiful young age pictures/photographs of Pujya Baba, Bihariji, Prof Sazanova and others to this blog.

The article # 1 - http://www.aryavest.com/partlink/163.pdf Gracious Gurudev. Reminiscences of prof. N.M. Sazanova about Sripad ji Maharaj. In this article, Prof. Sazanova tells the story of her first meeting with her Gurudev, their pilgrimage to Surdas memorial places, about Gurudev himself and the practice of bhakti.

The article # 2 -

The speech of Prof. N.M. Sazanova on the 11th anniversary of the foundation of Vraja Academy.

In the speech Prof. Sazanova is talking about the foundation of Vraja Academy, about Baba Srpipad ji Maharaj as the main Founder and Encourager of the Academy.
Also she extends warm greetings from Maharishi Svyatoslav Roerich (famous Russian artist who lived at that time in Bangalore), pointing out that the meeting of Sripad ji Maharaj and Maharishi Svyatoslav Roerich was the greatest event for her in the past year.

The article # 3 - http://www.aryavest.com/partlink/161.pdf

Russian Radha. Unfinished interview with prof. N.M. Sazanova.

These are the interview with prof. Sazanova and also some reminiscences from her diary, where she is telling about the years she spent in India, meeting with her Guru, studying and translation of Surdas poetry.

Prof. Sazanova passed away in 2006 but her tradition and work continues through her admirers and associates including Mr. Konstantin Gilevych, who besides working in Netherlands in a IT company, also contributes as the Head of Oriental Arts Department in Odessa Roerich House-Museum (Odessa, Ukraine). Museum was started 10 years ago with meagre resources. It now has big premises in the center of the beautiful city Odessa. The web-site of the museum is in Russian, but one can have a look at the museum's page in facebook - http://www.facebook.com/odessa.roerich.house.museum/photos. Being interested in museum activity, arts and oriental philosophy, Mr. Konstantin has collected a large number of Hindu artifacts as well. Many of these collections are the gifts from Prof. Natalya Sazanova who was also a patron of the museum . Notably, a pichwai of maharasa-lila was presented to Prof. N.Sazanova by Pujya Sripad Baba. Shri Konstantin has also recently written an article in Russian with research on pichwai tradition in India, which has roots in Pushti Marg tradition of Sri Vallabhacharya. This is also the first research on Pichwai.

  2. Indeed, what a wonderful woman she was, totally delightful, full of Bhakti and inspiration by Babaji's graceful kripa. It is a pleasure to see her here and read something about her dedicated life. We know her by the name Babaji called her, Russi Radha.

  3. Yes, indeed, it was back in 1968, when the famous journalist Haridatta Sharma from the "Hindustan Times"" wrote an article about Natalya Sazanova (just before she met Swamiji) and the article was called "Russian Radha". So since that time she was called Russian Radha in India, also by Babaji.

    Jai Jai Sri Radhey!
